December 7
Damian has been very busy this fall with a variety of
different projects. He landed a lead role in a SAG
industrial for NV Homes that shot for a period of 5
days alongside acting buds Pete Postiglione and Annette
Kaplafka. He also scored a principal speaking role for a
series of commercials for Optimum cable and internet
services, now airing all over the New York
metropolitan area.Damian also performed in
back-to-back lead roles in the Woodbury Sketch Club's
productions of Coming Apart and Here
on the Flight Path. Both productions were very
well received,
click here to check out a funny scene from Here on
the Flight Path.
But the really big news these days is that Damian has
signed with the Philadelphia Flyers hockey
organization as their new website and arena correspondent
and will be performing various duties in front of and
behind the cameras. His video work can be found on the
Flyers website under the FlyersTV tab (or check out the
featured videos
here), and you will also find him reporting live from
the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia during Flyers
home games. Check out his first report on Flyers center
Daniel Briere
here.
Things are heating up, so check back soon for the latest
from the world of "DJ". Until then, goodnight, and good
hockey.
May 15
"Free at last, free at last, thank God Almighty I'm free
at last!" Damian recently uttered those words upon his
departure from Tony N Tina's Wedding, (also
known among cast members as "La Amistad"). Thus ends an
18-month odyssey in embarrassment of the Italian-American
image in South Philly, Center City, on the Delaware
River, Virginia, the Poconos, and Atlantic City. There
were some great times along the way though. Did you ever
see a movie that was really good but just too long to sit
through? There you go.
Damian recently worked again on
Saturday Night Live in a sketch with guest
host Molly Shannon, in the role of a "goodfella" in a
Sopranos-spoof that featured Shannon's character
Sally O'Malley. Lots of screen time in this one, you can
check out part of the sketch on
youtube. Nice to be back on the 8th floor at 30 Rock
with my favorite gang!
In other ventures, Damian has signed on to play the
lead in two back-to-back plays at the Sketch Club
in Woodbury, NJ. These will mark his first proper stage
appearances since his NJACT Perry Award-nominated turn
there in Rumors two years ago. Catch him as
a bickering husband struggling with his marriage in
Coming Apart on June 8-17th. And don't miss
him as an aging bachelor who gets hilariously entangled
with a revolving-door of single female neighbors in what
apparently is the New Jersey premiere of Norm Foster's
Here on the Flight Path. This special Sketch
Club engagement runs from July 6-15th. Tickets for both
shows can be purchased by calling 856-848-8089 or by
email request at
tickets@sketchclubplayers.org.
Damian has also been contracted to host a series of
travel vignettes for
Orbitz.com. Go to the website to check them out or
you can watch them here:
Upper West Side

Also, Damian has signed on to play the lead character
in a short film entitled Lost and Found.
Produced and directed by Brett Groh, the 30-page short is
a psychological thriller that will be a true test of
acting range and sure to shock festival attendees! Think
Jacob's Ladder meets Memento.
Pre-production is already underway and the cameras roll
in September!
Keep checking in to get the latest on Damian's (mis)adventures!
December 21
Happy Holidays! Hopefully, most of you caught Damian on
Fox-TV's acclaimed and long-running show America's
Most Wanted on December 9th. Damian played
fugitive Jose Perez and marks his first primetime network
co-starring debut! According to A.C. Nielsen,
America's Most Wanted won its timeslot for the night,
meaning that nearly 6 million people nationwide watched
Damian yell in Spanish with no shirt on, a truly historic
event. If you missed it, Damian's scenes can be caught
here.
As the cold winter approaches, Damian continues to
perform in Tony N Tina's Wedding. A six
week run in Philadelphia at the state-of-the-art
Kimmel Center kicks off on New Year's Eve, and runs
every weekend until Valentine's Day. Tickets are
available by calling 1-800-660-TINA. For those of you who
missed Damian on the Spirit of Philadelphia, this
is a great opportunity to see him perform on dry land.
Damian has also continued working with Murder Mystery
Players, and has added to his resume by hosting the
live game show He Said, She Said once a
month at Dave & Buster's in Philadelphia.
On other fronts, Damian is working on returning to film
production and will have some big announcements in that
area shortly. Keep checking back to see what 2007 has in
store!
September 26
Damian has finally broken through the primetime network
principal role barrier with his portrayal of fugitive
rapist Jose Perez in an upcoming episode of
America's Most Wanted, which airs on FOX
on Saturday nights at 9 PM EST. He has been itching to
play a "bad guy" role for a while now and this one
certainly fits the bill. Jose Perez is a Hispanic father
of three who has been charged with raping his own
teenaged daughter and turning all of his children into
alcoholics. This was a very challenging and emotional
role and Damian hopes the upcoming episode leads to the
capture and conviction of this despicable person. This
gig also gives Damian has some dramatic TV footage for
his reel, and best of all, a nice fat paycheck! Once
aired, clips from the show will be accessible right here,
but check your local listings to catch the live
broadcast.
Damian's performance in the Cherry Hill Nissan
commercial he shot are just now beginning to pop up
in the Southern New Jersey area. Its refreshing to have
people come up to you, point and smile, and say "Hey, I
saw you on TV" and NOT think you are Emeril Lagasse
for a change.
Besides his Tony N Tina's Wedding gig,
which continues to churn out matrimonial offensiveness on
the Spirit of Philadelphia cruise ship, Damian has
also signed on with Murder Mystery Players, Inc.
for some extra dinner-theater work. Shows are closed to
the public, but Tony N Tina's upcoming shows are
on October 14, 28, and 29 and tickets are available at
1-800-660-TINA.
Damian has also booked several industrial film days of
work for MMT Technologies, and a local commercial
for NexTel wireless phones. If he could just
continue to make this kind of money from acting, he would
probably have to use it all to pay the hospital bill when
he collapses from exhaustion. Ahhh, someday.
July 22
Lots of projects are coming Damian's way this summer.
Among them, he has just appeared as serial killer John
Wayne Gacy in the Discovery Channel documentary
Most Evil. Check out Damian's
video page for a clip from this
highly-rated series!
Damian has also begun work on the feature film
Placebo, produced by his old buddies at
Anomaly Pictures. Besides helping around behind the
camera, Damian also acts in the role of Vic in the film,
performing alongside such luminaries as Scott Schwartz,
who played Bruiser in the movie Ocean's Eleven.
Production concludes in August and if post-production
goes along smoothly, the film may pop up in the festival
circuit by October. Stay tuned.
July has also seen Damian take on his first AFTRA
industrial for the Sheet Metal Workers Local Union in
Philadelphia, in which he played an erstwhile
electrician. He also got to shoot a Hair Club For Men
commercial (Yes, as the "after" guy, wiseass) and is
looking forward to more opportunities coming his way in
voice-over production.
The Walnut Street Theatre production of The
Thing About Men closed without Damian taking the
stage, but the experience was by far the best of his
theatre acting career and he cherishes the new friends he
made and the confidence earned through working with the
bright, adept, and immensely talented people involved
with the production.
And naturally, Tony N Tina's Wedding
continues its tradition as the show that will just. not.
die. Damian will be on board the Spirit of Philadelphia
to perform on July 28, and in August on the 11th, 19th,
20th, and 25th.
Finally, it should be noted that the one year anniversary
of the premiere of Average Joe 4 has come
and gone. Damian gives a warm shout out to all of his old
friends from the show, including Bill Parks, Anna Chudoba,
and Art Appicela, who have really made some great
progress in their careers. Cheers, guys! Anybody want to
throw a reunion party? Dante?
Keep checking back for updates on what Damian is up to!
June 14
Finally! Two and a half months of peace and quiet. Damian
has enjoyed a nice little break from the furious pace of
the first half of this year. Some nice things are coming
up in the future, and a couple of new ventures have
marked his recent weeks.
The American Red Cross/48 Hour film awards event
took place in May in scenic downtown Washington, DC.
Damian appeared in and helped create the nominated film
Utter Disaster for Anomaly Pictures
and was ultimately let down when the first place award
went to another film team. Adding to the pain was the
realization that a celebrity judge by the name of
Jamie Lee Curtis cast the tie-breaking vote against
Team Anomaly. Damian now regrets all the times as a
teenager that he would pause and rewind her nude scene in
Trading Places to admire her body.
Damian has stepped into the Actors Equity Association
circle by signing with the Walnut Street Theatre
to understudy the lead role in the musical comedy
The Thing About Men, running through July 2. The
experience has been simply incredible for Damian, as he
had no idea that people could behave so professionally
AND be so talented. He probably won't end up taking the
stage, but the show is an absolute hit, with Broadway
actors and Barrymore Award nominees all over the place.
The director, Mark Clements, is the director of the
original production that ran off-Broadway, starring Mark
Kudish. Performances are from Tuesday-Sunday at 7:30,
with afternoon matinees on Sat/Sun. Tickets can be
purchased at the Walnut Street Box Office at
215-574-3550.
Recently the three pilot episodes of Ebenezer's
Cafe were broadcast in Philadelphia, San Diego,
Washington DC, Albany, and Hartford. Now the fun begins
as viewers and syndicators alike will decide what they
think of Damian's interviewing/hosting skills. Stay
tuned.
And lastly, Tony and Tina's Wedding
continues to sail up and down the Delaware River on the
Spirit of Philadelphia cruise ship. Damian has
been splitting time between characters, but you'll
probably catch him on June 16th and 17th, and in July on
the 8th, 14th, 16th, and 28th. Tickets are available by
calling 1-800-660-TINA
As the Summer glides upon us, Damian is beginning to
lather upon him a cooling sunscreen of entertainment
work, so check back soon for his latest (ad)ventures!
March 30
In true "life imitating the reverse of art", March has
come in like a lamb and gone out like a lion for Damian.
The first half of the month was a chance to rest and
recharge himself after a furious pace of performing in
live theatre, television, and film. But the second half
of the month has seen a few diverse offers come Damian's
way. The fine folks at KPMG in Philadelphia once
again tapped into Damian's improvisational resources and
hired him to perform in costume as an aloof lifeguard for
a "beach night" party in the third floor ballroom of the
Loew's Hotel in Center City. He didn't save anyone
from drowning, but he did bust out a few nerdy
accountants later at the poker table which, I'm sure you
recall, is how David Hasselhoff got started.
In a
departure from his usual 48 Hour Film Project
work, Damian stepped away from the director's chair and
collaborated with the uber-talented filmmaking team of
Faith Sherry and Keith Feighan of Anomaly
Pictures, Inc. to create a short film for a contest
to benefit the 125th Anniversary of the American Red
Cross. The film is called Utter Disaster
(which will be judged at an upcoming gala event in
Washington D.C. by an elite Hollywood A-list) and can be
viewed, for now anyway, on the Anomaly Pictures Website
at
www.anomalypictures.com\utter.html. The experience
was great fun for him and he looks forward to working
again with Faith and Keith in the not-too-distant future.
Against the advice of every actor he has spoken with,
Damian has signed on for a couple of murder mystery
dinner theater performances in Philadelphia. Watch for
him as Guido the mafia henchman at the Happy Hour Club
on April 8, and LaSalle University on April 24.
Besides a nice payday and unique acting opportunity,
Damian always has the time to help further America's
blind stereotyping of Italians everywhere. You gotta
problem wit dat?
Damian has also signed on with Cathy Parker
Management, Inc., who is providing many audition
opportunities for him of late. He recently shot a
commercial for the Cherry Hill Nissan dealership
as the typical Italian, blue-collar, working man, car
buyer. "Yo, I hope da trunk is roomy cause I gotta take
care of dat thing later, ok?" See a pattern here?
And to complete the prejudicial picture, Tony N'
Tina's Wedding continues to sail on the Spirit
of Philadelphia cruise ship, with performances on
April 2, 14, 29, and 30. Go to
Tonyandtina.com for tickets. All Damian needs now is
to book one of those offensive Olive Garden
commercials and he'll be crowned the "Uncle Tom" of
Italian-Americans everywhere!
February 14
My, has it been two months already? Damian has been super
busy of late, but always has time to update his fans
every 60 days or so. Lets see.... Um..... Oh! February
has been a whimsical trip down memory lane for Damian.
Back in the late 70's Damian's favorite movie was
Rocky, his favorite star was Steve Martin, and
his favorite TV Show was Saturday Night Live
(Even though he had no idea what was going on in those
sketches!). The circle of life's experiences finally came
back around as Damian spent three days shooting on the
upcoming film Rocky Balboa in South
Philadelphia and actually has a line of dialogue with
Sylvester Stallone in a restaurant! Keep an ear out
for "Hey Rock, hows it goin'?" to which Sly replies "Hey,
eat up. Everything on the menu is edible." Oh, that
Rocky. Damian is now a SAG member, by the by. Later that
week, he was called up to appear on Saturday Night
Live as a security guard for the super bowl in a
comedy sketch. Oh, and the host of the show? Yep, Steve
Martin. What a great experience for Damian to meet his
childhood idol (No, not Traci Lords. The OTHER childhood
idol) and work on a historic comedic institution at the
same time. Damian also picked up an AFTRA union card as a
result.
Tony N Tina's is winding down a decade-plus
run at the Venice Plaza in Philadelphia. After this
month, shows will take place exclusively on the Spirit
of Philadelphia cruise ship. The change is
bittersweet, as some cast members and crew will not be
kept aboard, but the dearth of performances also frees up
Damian's weekends again, clearing the way for him to
spend more time home alone, huddled in the fetal position
in the south-west corner of his basement, softly weeping
himself to sleep.
Lots more coming Damian's way in 2006! Check back to see
what's next!
December 21
Acting work has been progressing steadily for Damian in
recent weeks. Three pilot episodes of Ebenezer's
Cafe have been shot and should begin to pop up
over the air in various TV markets in January. Damian got
to interview some very interesting people, including
former Superior Court judge and current FOX-TV analyst
Andrew P. Napolitano, who plugged his book
Constitutional Chaos and Mozart-expert, writer,
and composer Harrison Gradwell Slater. Check back soon
for snippets of the show here at DamianMuziani.com!
Damian also shot an industrial film for Jannsen
Pharmaceuticals in Princeton, NJ, as a sales
representative who tries to persuade a doctor to put his
patients on some kind of anti-psychotic drug of sorts.
Speaking of psychotic, once again the brass at KPMG in
Philadelphia booked Damian to perform a live improv for
their 1200 employees at a 3-day "Town Hall" kind of
seminar. Damian played the role of Tim Finn, a hands-on
executive with the company who shows up in a business
wetsuit, complete with snorkel, flippers, surfboard, and
a live goldfish in a bowl. The stunt was to promote the
company holiday party which was held at the Adventure
Aquarium in Camden, NJ. Raves all around for Damian, who
felt a bit more at ease with the performance, having done
it all before in 2004. Did I mention psychotic? Oh, yes.
Damian was cast by The Discovery Channel to
portray serial killer John Wayne Gacy in their upcoming
6-part documentary entitled Pure Evil.
Damian had to wear clown makeup and look menacing and
behave, well, like a psycho. Look for the series to
premiere during February sweeps.
Tony N Tina's Wedding is still going strong
and Damian has been promoted to full-time status with the
company as Father Mark, although he also recently got the
opportunity to play Tina's ex-boyfriend in one
performance, which was fun. Thirteen performances are
already scheduled for the first six weeks of 2006.
Tickets are available by calling 1-800-660-TINA. Keep
checking back for the latest on what Damian is up to!
November 3
Sorry its been so long between updates. Sue me. Actually,
Damian has been one busy bee since last we blogged. He
has signed on with the cast of Tony N' Tina's
Wedding in Philadelphia for the current season,
primarily in the role of Father Mark. Damian broke in his
bible on opening night October 22 to a packed house. The
cast and crew are the best bunch of professional actors
he has ever worked with.
He will appear on Friday and Saturday nights, with Sunday
matinees through March at the Venice Plaza in
Philadelphia. Tickets are available by calling
1-800-660-TINA.
DDG Productions has signed Damian on as host for a
new talk-show pilot, slated for possible syndication,
entitled Ebenezer's Cafe. In a Tonight
Show meets QVC-kind of format, he will
interview East Coast celebrities, authors, filmmakers,
and musicians in three half-hour pilot episodes in
November. Fingers crossed on the series being picked up
for syndication, which of course means Damian would
finally earn enough money to build a disco room in his
basement, fulfilling a lifelong dream.
In October, Damian also shot an industrial film for
Pete Saffrin, and commercials for Comcast Digital
Cable, and Gloucester County Federal Savings Bank.
All of this "In front of the camera" work has kept him
from entering the 2005 National Film Challenge, which
saddens him, but he is excited about the new direction in
his acting career, and a very promising 2006 awaits. Keep
checking back for the latest on what Damian is up to!
September 26
Well, the end of a whirlwind summer has earned Damian a
short break in his hectic schedule. After two years of
service, he has left the Ritz Theater's children's
performance troupe, taking with him a wealth of
experience and lots of great memories. For those of you who have supported
Damian by attending his performances over the last two
years, he recommends that you take your children to see
Mr. Malcolm's wonderful and creative shows at the
Woodbury Sketch Club. Tickets are available
here.
Damian has also taken a brief hiatus from the mainstage,
but continues to pursue opportunities in the
entertainment industry. He was recently invited by the
Philadelphia Flyers to try out for the position of
in-arena host at the Wachovia Center in
Philadelphia. Intermittently, he also has been spending a
few days a month in Hollywood, where he continues to
network with people in the biz in sunny California. The
trickle-down effect of his appearance on Average
Joe has definitely been a positive one.
Damian also recently attended the New Jersey
Association of Community Theater's 2005 Perry Awards,
as a nominee for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Play,
for Rumors, in which he appeared earlier
this year. He lost the award to 86-year-old Paul Nixon,
who starred in Visiting Mr. Green at the Strand
Theater in Lakewood, NJ. Congratulations to Paul! What an
honor it was to be in the same room with the
highest-regarded community actors in the state.
Unfortunately, no nominees from South Jersey won an award
(and if you consider Lakewood to be in South Jersey,
invest in the Rand McNally company, please, and buy
yourself a map) but hopefully our contingent made enough
of an impact to be more-favorably considered in the
future.
Elsewhere, the 2005 National Film Challenge is
taking place October 21-23, and team COFI is still on the
fence as to whether it will produce an entry this year.
Last year's effort, Brad Interrupted, was a
tremendously difficult undertaking and as a result, the
final product suffered. If we do enter this time, the
film will be scaled down considerably, with a focus on
sharp dialogue and acting, as opposed to the gonzo
stunt-filming approach we took last time. Maybe a
chick-flick about relationships. OK, maybe not, but
something more mature is probably the direction we will
head in. Stay tuned!
August 9
What a summer this has been, let me tell ya. Yesterday,
Damian was informed that he has been nominated for a
2005 Perry Award in the category of Outstanding
Lead Actor in a Play for his recent work on the play
Rumors. The Perry is actually a very
coveted and distinctive prize given by the New Jersey
Association of Community Theaters in recognition of
outstanding theater in New Jersey. Up until this year, no
one from the Southern part of New Jersey had been
nominated in the "leading male" category. Lets just say
that North Jersey theater's benefit greatly from their
proximity to Broadway, and very rarely are actors and
productions south of Trenton noticed in this capacity.
This makes Damian especially honored, and he will be
attending the awards gala in Somerset, NJ on September 18
with fingers crossed and body filled with sedatives. You
can take a peek at Damian's key scene in Rumors on
the video page of this site. He
would like to also extend a giant thank-you to all
of the actors, directors, and theatre-folk who have
helped and supported his acting journey over the last
couple of years. Each and every one of you share a piece
of this nomination with me.
July 27
Well, the finale of Average Joe aired last
night and the final chapter of this season has now been
written. Damian has completed a whirlwind of appearances,
interviews, television commentary, radio commentary,
newspaper commentary, and personal promotion of the
series and is now due to take a little break. In the
meantime, a documentary film Damian shot in the spring
has been published by Gannett News Services and
can be viewed on the website of the Courier Post
Newspaper
here.
The film was shot on location in the New Jersey Pine
Barrens, a dangerously isolated area known for getting
campers lost and also for being the home of the Jersey
Devil. Damian accompanied a reporter into the woods and
documented her overnight stay. Kind of a Blair
Witch Project meets Intro to Filmmaking 101.
The text of the article can be viewed
here.
August is the dark month for the Ritz Children's
Theatre troupe so no mainstage shows will take place
there until the end of September, but Damian can still be
seen as "The King", performing outdoors in The Sun
Princess on July 29 at the Hopkins House
at Cooper River Park in Collingswood, NJ at 10:30AM and
then on August 17 at the McLaughlin-Norcross Dell
in Haddon Heights, NJ at 10:30AM. If there is a God,
he/she will not allow 95+ degree temperatures for either
of these days. Otherwise, look for Damian as "The Speedo
King" on those days, shortly before his arrest for
indecent exposure.
There are some new ventures that Damian has taken on, so
keep checking back for the latest on this Average
Joe alumni!
July 7
Well, the pomp and circumstance surrounding the premiere
of Average Joe: The Joes Strike Back has
finally cooled. Damian, as you probably know by now, was
eliminated on the first episode. He was the 7th "Joe" out
of 10 to get the boot. He had an incredible time at the
premiere party in Hollywood, as these
pictures clearly show.
Damian can still be found on television in the
Philadelphia area, however. Catch him every Wednesday
morning throughout the season of Average Joe
on the NBC10 morning show cleverly titled
10! at 10 AM, where he will break down the
previous night's episode for viewers in the Delaware
Valley. For those of you that are ignorant to the Julian
Calendar, please circle July 13, 20, 27, and August 3 and
watch Damian on those days!
Elsewhere, Damian continues to perform at the Ritz
for children and bored adults. Catch him in The
Pied Piper on July 21, 22, and 23 and in
The Sun Princess at Haddon Township Park
on July 29.
A big THANK YOU to everyone who has supported
Damian's Average Joe venture over the last year.
He had the best time taping the show and wouldn't trade
the experience for anything. Those of you now keeping
your distance from him, knowing that he no longer is on
the show and is now consequentially less valuable to your
pithy existence, please continue to do so. Damian wants
no part of you in his life and believes the world is a
far better place without your "fair weather-friend"
demeanor clouding his sunny existence. And yes, Damian
did spend some time in LA chatting with Tom and Katie
and The Church of Scientology is a wonderful entity,
immortally etched by the late, great, L. Ron Hubbard, and
there is a place there for you, too, if you will just
keep your Eyes Wide Shut, and SEE what we have to offer.
I'm a Firm believer that Scientology is Far and Away your
best hope to escape the eternal Days of Thunder. Don't
get caught in the Rain, Man! Are we happy with just A Few
Good Men, making All the Right Moves in life, just to
complete our Mission? Impossible! Don't use your soul as
Collateral for God's plan. Happiness is just a phone
call, and $1475 sign up fee away. Don't be shut out in
life. Religion is a Risky Business, so be a Top Gun and
then kick back with a Vanilla Sky Cocktail on us!
June 24
Only a precious couple of days until Damian's big
premiere on Average Joe: The Joes Strike Back!
The air is abuzz with heated anticipation, clearing only
to allow the occasional reflection of the past in. Damian
has been pushing this event on you, gentle readers, for
almost ten months, now. The big day is almost here!
Here's the latest:
Unfortunately, as much as Damian would love to throw a
big bash locally and invite friends and strangers alike,
he has decided to attend the Hollywood premiere of the
show instead. Anna Chudoba, better known as "the
hot chick" from this season's Average Joe, called
and invited Damian to share in the festivities at
ultra-trendy Le Dome on Sunset Boulevard in West
Hollywood, California. The potential exposure for Damian
is just too tasty to turn down, so he will be flying out
to the west coast early on the 28th. Don't miss him too
badly, he's coming home late the next night. Sorry to
those of you who wanted to spend the night of the
premiere with Damian. It's not that he hates you, he just
likes Anna more! There, feel better?
Local NBC affiliate WCAU has offered Damian a
recurring guest appearance on its morning culture show
10! on Wednesdays throughout the run of
Average Joe. Damian will be an in-studio guest once a
week to chat about the latest episode of Average Joe
and himself with hosts Bill Henley and the lovely
Lauren Hart at 10AM EST on channel 10 in
Philadelphia! Don't miss him!
Damian has also been featured in two local newspapers
this week. On Tuesday, June 21, The Philadelphia
Inquirer ran this story on him:
http://www.philly.com/mld/inquirer/11943811
And then Today, the Courier-Post printed
the following story about Damian:
http://www.southjerseynews.com/communities/gl062305a.htm
Its great to be newsworthy, let me tell ya.
Damian has finished performing in Rumors at
the Woodbury Sketch Club. He would like to thank all of
the people who came out to see him, and for all of the
raves and encouragement he received. It was an enjoyable
experience overall. His next stage venture will depend
upon the limits of his schedule during the airing of the
Average Joe series. Be sure to check the
video section of this site to watch a clip of Damian from
Rumors, coming soon!
Once again, THANK YOU, one and all for your support and
interest! I'll try to write to you once more before
leaving for L.A.!
May 28
Damian can now be clearly found on the NBC website, along
with the other 17 sacrificial joes, promoting
Average Joe: The Joes Strike Back, which debuts
on June 28 at 8PM. You can even watch his
interview and read all about him, as if you haven't
learned all there is already from this website. PLUS, you
can vote for him, based on face, physique, and
personality factors. What fun! Vote for Damian
here.
After the first day of voting, Damian was ranked #1 all
across the globe by people who have nothing better to do
on Memorial Day Weekend. Bored America, I THANK YOU!
Keep it tuned right here to find out where to watch the
first episode with Damian in the Greater Philadelphia
area. Buy him a drink, slip him your phone number, slap
him with a subpeona, its all good, really.
Don't miss Damian's lead performance in the hilarious
Neil Simon farce, RUMORS, at the
Woodbury Sketch Club, from June 9-19. Damian is
welcoming this needed distraction from the surreal world
of reality TV, timed to end right before the big
Average Joe premiere. Info and tickets can be
obtained
here.
Thanks for voting and check back soon!
May 18
It is now less than six weeks away when Damian will be
thrust upon an unsuspecting America in Average Joe:
The Joes Strike Back! The buzz is getting BIG and
Damian can't get through the day without throngs of new
fans asking him questions about the show, or taking a
picture with him, or asking him to marry them. There will
be a viewing party in the Philadelphia area for the
premiere, so be sure to check back for details!
In the meantime, you can go to
nbc.com/summer to see
the promo picture and trailer for the new season. Damian
is the 4th "joe" from the right, behind Anna's left
shoulder, closest to her face. He can be seen in the
trailer at the very end, as one of the faces moving
across the bottom of the screen.
In other news, rehearsals for Neil Simon's Rumors
continues. The show runs from June 9-19 at the
Woodbury Sketch Club. Damian will be playing the lead
role of Lenny Ganz. Tickets can be purchased by calling
856-848-8089 or online at
geocities.com/sketchclub.
Damian will also be appearing in the Ritz Theatre
Children's Series for the productions of
Aesop's Fables on June 2, 3, 4. and The
Pied Piper on July 20, 21, 22, 23.
Also, Damian has shot principal photography for a
news-magazine feature on the Courier-Post
newspaper's website, highlighting outdoor adventures in
South Jersey. He traveled to the pine barrens of Ocean
County to film a wilderness survival school as they train
heady out-of-towners how to live through the apocalypse.
Editing and post-production will take place throughout
June and the webcast dates will be announced shortly.
Keep checking back for more news, new pictures,
Average Joe tidbits, and other cool details!
May 3
Well, patient readers, NBC has FINALLY
scheduled the premier of Average Joe 4: The Joes
Strike Back! to air on June 28th at 8PM.
There will be six episodes in all, and this marks
Damian's first national over-the-air network
television debut. The Gods have looked down with
sympathy on Damian, who was beginning to wonder if it had
all been a dream until now. A wonderful, wonderful dream.
Now the focus shifts over to exposure. Damian is working
with his agents and members of the media to make the most
of this opportunity and, pending NBC approval, we will be
announcing some promotions involving him and the show
soon. Stay tuned!
Meanwhile, back on dry land, Damian has accepted the lead
role in Neil Simon's Rumors, which will be
performed at the Sketch Club Players in Woodbury,
NJ on June 9-19. Tickets and information can be obtained
here. He is
excited to perform with this group, and it is a nicely
timed diversion from the buildup of tension surrounding
Average Joe.
He has also been nominated for a "Teenie" award in the
category of Best Leading Actor in a Play for his
performance as Nick in Over the River and Through
the Woods, which ran at Haddonfield Plays and
Players last spring. The "Teenie" is kind of like a
community theatre version of the Tony award. He is of
course, thrilled to be nominated, and hopes one day to be
able to proudly exclaim to the entire world, "I've got a
Teenie!".

April 11
Well, the dust has settled on a whirlwind production of
A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum,
and Damian has finally earned a much-needed break. This
experience was a memorable one for a variety of reasons,
but even though the entire production was plagued with a
myriad of problems, it was a very worthwhile venture.
Damian will be once again performing for the Ritz
Theatre Children's Series in productions of The
Princess and the Pea on May 5, 6, and 7, and
Aesop's Fables on June 2, 3, and 4.
Damian is still mulling over entering the 48-Hour Film
Project for Washington, DC. COFI entered this
competition two years ago and it would be great to see
some of our peers from the nation's capital again. It
will come down to how much time he can spare.
Well, the buzz has been growing about the impending
broadcast of what has become something of a folklore
legend called Average Joe 4 for NBC.
The latest scoop from the horse's mouth tells us that it
will premier no later than June of this year! Tears of
relief now trickle down from the salty corners of
Damian's eye, as he can now reaffirm his connection with
this show. Many of his friends and hated contemporaries
have begun to scoff at Damian's so-called involvement in
Average Joe as of late, pointing to the
lack of any official broadcasted confirmation of his
participation, a full ten months after it has taken
place, as a sign that perhaps the irascible Damian has
duped the general public into falsely believing that his
15 minutes of fame are on the horizon. More possibly,
they are giddy with the hopes that the show might never
see the light of day, thereby placating their own lack of
talent and industry savvy by reveling in the crushed
hopes for success by someone clearly more deserving. I
just LOVE show business!
Actually, he may be speaking too soon, but stay tuned to
DamianMuziani.com for links to other contestants from
Average Joe and a complete breakdown of when
and where you can watch the show in public with Damian
himself (or a Damian look-alike, hired for multiple
supermarket openings and special-drink bar nights) and
watch the drama unfold with a real life Average Joe!
February 21
Updates to this page will pick up a bit now with so many
ventures on Damian's horizon, honest. I know this promise
is made in every news update here, but this time we mean
it! Mum is still the word of choice at the National
Broadcasting Company, in regard to when Average
Joe 4 will air, but that has not stopped Damian
from shopping himself around like a discounted gigolo to
talent agents and casting companies in Philadelphia and
New York. He has recently signed on with Claro Talent
Agency in Philadelphia, and had a fifteen minute
one-on-one meeting with casting icon Mike Lemon at
his Philly office. Damian shared with Mike a funny story
about how he first met him a couple of years ago,
involving a bizarre case of mistaken identity.
On the acting front, Damian has accepted the lead role in
Stephen Sondheim's A Funny Thing Happened on the
Way to the Forum, which will be performed at
Cumberland County College during the second week of
April. More information can be found here:
http://www.cccnj.net/.
The part of Pseudolus has been much-coveted by
Damian for some time now and he is excited to have this
opportunity to challenge his talents and expand his
capacity to entertain. Naturally, he is still mugging for
little ones and their single mother's alike in the
monthly children's shows at the Ritz Theatre in
Oaklyn, NJ. Next on the playskool palate is Damian as an
opera-singing goose in The Little Red Hen
on March 10, 11, and 12, followed by The Adventures
of Peter Rabbit on March 31, April 1, and 2.
Damian has just been reflecting on the fact that has been
performing in the children's shows there for 19 months
straight! Well-earned experience or dubious achievement?
You decide!
As if that wasn't enough to keep Damian busy, the next
48 Hour Film Contest for Philadelphia will be in
March. Team COFI is going to go in a completely
new direction for this one, with our attempts to find the
perfect formula of crew, cast, and chaos leading us into
ever-more challenging territory. Following up the
critical success of True Identity with an
even better film will be a top priority for us.
And finally, Damian has begun work on a screenplay with
Brandon Libby that will be pitched to industry-types in a
contest during the Philadelphia Film Festival in
March. Tentatively titled The Bishop, it
follows the downtrodden exploits of two buddies who look
an awful lot like two at-large urban criminals. One of
them is trying to win back an estranged girlfriend while
the other is trying to raise money to pay off a large
gambling debt. As a backup idea, in the spirit of
Damian's humor, the plot could also center around two
downtrodden friends who enter a P.R. smokescreen-saddled
sham of a screenwriting contest, at which one of the
banal judges steals their idea and makes a blockbuster
out of it, causing the friends to vow revenge and
sabotage the location filming! Stay tuned for this one!
December 16
Things are a tad slow these days as NBC has postponed the
announcement of when Average Joe 4 will air
in 2005. In the meantime, Damian will be acting in a
stage production of The Man Who Came to Dinner
at Haddonfield Plays & Players in Haddonfield, NJ, in the
role of Bert Jefferson. The show runs on weekends from
January 13-29. Tickets and information is available
here.
He can also be spotted monthly in the children's shows at
the Ritz Theater in Oaklyn, NJ. Up next at the Ritz is
The Little Engine That Could, running from
January 19-22, followed by The Sun Princess
on February 10-12.
Recently Damian was hired in an unscripted acting
capacity, playing the role of a nerdy but energetic tax
accountant at the Philadelphia headquarters of KPMG. He
was required to clumsily interrupt an actual seminar
conducted by a corporate executive and provide some comic
relief for the 300 accountants in the audience. It was a
lot of fun and certainly a unique opportunity and the
company's feedback of his performance was very positive.
As for the National Film Challenge movie shot in
October, (Wow, it has been a while since this site was
updated), COFI was notified that Brad,
Interrupted was picked as one of the top fifty
movies entered in the contest. Not too shabby for
what was an incredibly unlucky and stressful experience
that still causes Damian to wake up from nightmares in a
cold puddle of sweat and drool. The movie itself was
screened in Philadelphia at Lucy's Hat Shop in November
and got a warm reception. What got a better hand was the
phony movie that Damian shot with Brandon Libby in the
days leading up to the screening and was handed in to the
organizers as a real entered film. Basically, since all
of the real movies were shot on October 2, 2004, we made
the fake film about a man who predicts the future and
claims to know "beforehand" that the Boston Red Sox would
win the world series, George W. Bush would get
re-elected, and Scott Peterson would be found guilty of
murder. Gradually, some of the audience caught on to the
scam, while others were watching in jaw-dropped, stunned
amazement. The last scene has Damian breaking character
and confessing that the movie was a joke and
congratulates all of the filmmakers there that evening.
COFI will be taking a little break, but should be back
with a vengeance for the next 48 hour film competition in
early 2005.
October 11
Damian has finished directing and editing the short film
Brad, Interrupted for Caffeine Overdose
Films, Inc. (COFI) as part of the National Film
Challenge contest. The movie is in the judges' hands
now, along with almost 150 other entries that will be
graded in the coming weeks. The Courier-Post
newspaper followed our team around during the shoot, and
a nice article and compliment web-video appeared on their
website this morning. Many thanks to Courier-Post
photographer Doug Bovitt and especially reporter Lavinia
DeCastro, who did triple-duty that weekend as camerawoman
and actress. Check out the story/video here:

The filming process for Brad, Interrupted
was the most difficult that Damian has endured, and the
hard work and team effort that he and the COFI crew
shared helped make the film a success. We shot scenes at
a real wedding reception DURING the reception and at a
live children's show DURING the performance. COFI always
has tried to raise the bar when competing in these
contests, or just knock the bar right down, and we
believe we have succeeded yet again, but at what cost?
Damian literally slept for six hours over the course of 4
days and as a result, has checked himself into a
psychiatric evaluation ward as a precautionary measure.
It seems that, during his sleep-deprived weekend, he
decided to rob a convenience store with a rubber gun,
screamed orders at the clerk in broken-Arabic, and made
off with twenty cartons of cigarettes. This is
particularly troubling for Damian because he doesn't even
smoke! The asylum orderlies DO smoke, however, and in
exchange for unlimited cigarettes, have made arrangements
for Damian to come and go as he pleases from the clinic,
in much the same way as Robert Downey, Jr. did in Malibu
a few years back. There will probably be a local
screening of Brad Interrupted in the
Philadelphia area soon, so if you want to see it, along
with other entries, check back here for details! Thanks
to Stefan L. Smith, from DePaul University, who magically
wrote the score for the final cut in only a few hours,
and to our lead Kumar Dari, who never complained about
being attacked by dogs or hit on by priests or diving
head-first into wedding cake.
On other fronts, the updates to Damianmuziani.com have
been slow lately, due to a snag in NBC's
announcement of when Average Joe 4 will air
this fall. We should know very very soon, and we will
post the premiere date and time here when it is
announced! Until then, Damian will probably be performing
on stage somewhere in the Philadelphia metropolitan area
in the coming weeks and months, and of course can be seen
at the Ritz entertaining children in Beauty and the
Beast October 28-30, the Snow Queen
on November 18-20, and Rudolph the Red-Nosed
Reindeer on December 13-18.
Last, but SO not least, Damian has just been signed by
the Greer Lange Talent Agency, Philadelphia's most
prestigious and well-known agency. Many, many thanks to
Janine Jones and everyone at Greer Lange, and he probably
also owes a letter to Amy Russ at ActorWebs, since
he was told that this website was a "helpful factor" in
deciding to sign him as a client. Finally, Damian can
begin getting down to the business God laid out for him,
as a pitchman for Cialis or something. "I knew finding
the time to get away with the wife for a weekend would be
hard, but not THIS HARD!!! Cialis, its not just for
breakfast anymore." The future is mine, I tell ya. Yeah,
I can practically smell the cash.
September 2
Damian was featured this morning in a front page article
in the Philadelphia Inquirer (OK, not
front-front page, but at least it was the front page of
section "D") in connection with his upcoming appearance
on Average Joe. The article included a
posed photograph of him sitting on one of those little
toddler horse rides that you see on playgrounds, eyes
squinting into the sun, appearing very much like a
mentally handicapped man-boy. Many thanks to Inquirer
photographer Akira Suwa for talking Damian into posing in
a manner which is bound to have casting agents and cold
case investigators alike banging down his door. The text
of the article can be viewed
here.
Tidbits of AJ4 info have been slowly leaking out to the
media as E! News Daily reported yesterday
that some Average Joe contestants may have
been given makeovers after they were eliminated to make a
dramatic return to the show. Could THAT be why Damian has
kept such a low profile since returning from California?
The world finds out the truth when Average Joe 4
premieres on NBC sometime between now and the 2006
Winter Olympic games in Turin. Ahh, the metallic almond
taste of bitter, bitter sarcasm. Missed you, my old
friend. No official air date has been announced, but as
soon as one is, we here at damianmuziani.com will splash
the news all over this site, so keep checking back!
Elsewhere, Damian is busy planning his 4th foray into
48-hour filmmaking with the National Film Challenge
on October 1-3. There are some very unique twists this
time around, and this venture will test the limits of
improvisational, gonzo filmmaking as Damian and his
ever-growing crew of assistants take advantage of the
reality TV boom in what will be his toughest film project
ever! By the way, COFI (Damian's filmmaking
company) has really grown in reputation in its only year
of existence. We had maybe ten people who signed on for
our first production, and now, after winning an award and
having a soon-to-be reality television entity serve as
director, there are a ton of ambitious people who have
volunteered to help out. From the bottom of our cracked
COFI pot, we THANK you.
August 21
Well,
the clock is ticking as the premiere of NBC’s Average
Joe IV draws ever closer. While exposure, fame and the
chance to continue working in the entertainment world are high on
Damian’s list of benefits he hopes to reap from this prime-time
network television stint, what he would really like to have is a
stalker. It’s so lonely in the real world and having someone there,
hiding in your bushes when you come home at night sounds so
comforting, don’t you agree? Call him old-fashioned, but Damian
still believes in finding true love that was borne and nurtured
through years of unyielding and blind obsession. In light of this,
he cannot begin to understand why (name withheld - Average Joe IV)
still won’t return any of his phone calls or emails and apparently
is unwilling to lift her restraining order against him. This is
completely unfair. I mean, he can’t help it if (name withheld) shops at the
same malls as him. 300 yards away at all times? Do you realize how
far that is? That’s over a quarter-mile, much too far away to
photograph her without a 600x telescopic camera lens that ended up
costing Damian something like $2000. He knows she likes to play hard
to get (from reading her diary when he broke into her apartment last
spring) but this is a bit over the top, no? Another four or five
years of this, and Damian may just have to re-evaluate this
relationship and consider moving on.
August 17
Damian
is back from shooting Average Joe IV for NBC. He
got very tan and fully enjoyed the experience, although he still
cannot break the habit of writing about himself in the 3rd
person. Damian will continue to perform for children at the Ritz
Theatre in Oaklyn, NJ this fall. Shows and dates are as
follows. Unless otherwise noted, all shows are at 10AM and all
second performances on Saturday are at 1PM. Call the Ritz for
directions and tickets (856)858-5230.

While
the Children’s shows are fun for the whole family, Damian would like
to especially encourage all SINGLE mothers to come on out with their
kids.
No reason. |
